The Hippokrates digitalisation project is currently in progress. The society seeks to publish all volumes as open access on the OJS-platform managed by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies in 2022. New volumes will appear on the platform 12 months after publication. The project has been financially supported by the Finnish Association for Scholarly Publishing.
Open proclamation
The open access availability of volumes requires that the publishing contracts made with the writers are reformed. This includes the older volumes, as the consent for open online publication of all those who have written in them is needed before their articles can be published on OJS. As Hippokrates has been published since 1984, some of the writers have passed away. The duration of the intellectual property rights of texts remains for 70 years after the writer’s death, and the rights are passed on to their heirs. Consequently, the society is, through this open call, trying to reach all persons who have at some point written to Hippokrates or who are a part of the estate of such a person.
